Heavy rain alert Odisha July 2025

Twin Low-Pressure Systems to Bring Heavy Rainfall to Odisha in Early September

Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating the formation of two low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal in early September, likely triggering intense rainfall across Odisha.

According to the IMD, the first system is expected to develop around September 3 in the northern Bay of Bengal and may intensify into a depression by September 5. A second low-pressure area is projected to form in the second week of September, further contributing to the wet spell.

The state is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall between August 31 and September 3, with potential flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Authorities have been advised to stay alert and prepare for possible disruptions in transportation and daily activities.

The sequential nature of these weather disturbances could prolong the rainy conditions, impacting agriculture, infrastructure, and public mobility. Residents are urged to follow official updates and take necessary precautions.
