TVK Chief Vijay Faces Divorce Case Amid Infidelity Allegations

In a development that has stunned Tamil cinema and political circles, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay’s wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam, has filed for divorce after 25 years of marriage.

According to court filings, Sangeeta alleged that Vijay was involved in an extramarital relationship with a fellow actor since 2021.

Despite assurances to end the affair, she claims the relationship continued, leading her to seek dissolution of the marriage.

The petition, filed in the District Court, cites adultery and cruelty under Section 27(1)(a) and 27(1)(d) of the Special Marriage Act, 1954.

The couple, who married on August 25, 1999, in a ceremony blending Hindu and Christian traditions, share two children — Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha.

Sangeeta, daughter of a Tamil industrialist and once a devoted fan of Vijay, has brought forward allegations that have sparked intense public debate.
