Maoist surrender in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh – June 2, ( Ot Webdesk)In a significant breakthrough, 16 Maoists, including two hardcore insurgents, surrendered in Sukma district, marking a crucial step in the fight against insurgency in Chhattisgarh.

Among them, two belonged to the Sukma PLGA battalion and had bounties of ₹8 lakh each, while six others collectively carried rewards totalling ₹25 lakh.

The surrender is credited to the state’s revised rehabilitation policy and the influence of the Niyad Nellanar initiative, which aims to encourage Maoist cadres to reintegrate into mainstream society.

Authorities believe this development is a promising indication of growing trust in the administration’s efforts to curb extremism through dialogue rather than confrontation.

Officials assert that such initiatives pave the way for long-term stability in conflict-ridden areas, fostering peace and progress.

The Chhattisgarh government has assured full support to surrendered individuals in rebuilding their lives.
