Tree Saves Lives as Ambulance Overturns in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: An ambulance from Khairput Health Centre narrowly avoided tragedy on Sunday when it overturned at Bonda Ghati in Malkangiri district.

The vehicle, en route to bring a patient, lost balance near Dalakhai and struck the branches of a nearby tree. The branches prevented the ambulance from plunging sixty feet down the slope, saving the lives of those inside.

School teachers returning from duty witnessed the accident and rushed to rescue the driver and two staff members trapped inside. Their quick response and courage ensured that no serious injuries were reported.

The incident highlights the risks faced by emergency vehicles in hilly terrain, where narrow roads and sharp turns pose constant challenges.

Local residents have urged authorities to improve road infrastructure and provide specialised training for drivers handling emergency vehicles.
