Tourist Rescued from Rip Current at Puri Beach |
Puri, Odisha: A tourist from Balasore district had a narrow escape after being swept away by a strong rip current while bathing at Swargadwar beach on Wednesday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, Harihar Behera of Kundi village was caught in the powerful current around 11:30 AM. Onlookers immediately raised an alarm, prompting lifeguards stationed at the beach to rush to his aid.
The rescue team managed to pull him safely back to shore.
Behera was quickly shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri, where doctors confirmed his condition is stable.
Fire Services officials praised the swift action of lifeguards and urged visitors to remain cautious while venturing into the sea, particularly in areas prone to dangerous currents.
Authorities have reiterated safety advisories, reminding tourists that Puri’s beaches, while popular, can pose risks due to unpredictable tides.
