Tourist Drowns at Satapada, Chilika Lake: Safety Concerns Resurface
A tragic incident unfolded at Satapada in Odisha’s Chilika Lake on Sunday when a tourist lost their life after being swept away by strong currents near the lake’s mouth.
According to eyewitnesses, the individual had entered the water for bathing when unpredictable waves pulled them into deeper waters.
Rescue teams from the Odisha Fire Services Department rushed to the spot and, after hours of search operations, recovered the body at Baghamunda coast.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially confirmed.
Police have initiated legal formalities and further investigation.
Meanwhile, authorities reiterated safety advisories, urging visitors to avoid bathing in restricted zones, follow lifeguard instructions, and remain cautious near areas with strong currents.
