Jharkhand ( OT Webdesk)– In a decisive victory against left-wing extremism, security forces eliminated Pappu Lohara, a top Maoist commander, in a high-stakes anti-Maoist operation in Jharkhand’s Latehar district.
Lohara, notorious for orchestrating violent insurgencies, carried a ₹10 lakh bounty and had long evaded authorities.
The operation also led to the death of another Maoist, Prabhat Ganjhu, who had a ₹5 lakh reward on his head. In an unprecedented move, 24 Maoist members surrendered, marking a significant setback for insurgent factions operating in the region.
Authorities hailed the operation as a “big achievement”, with IG Operations Amol V Homkar confirming that Maoist strongholds have been considerably reduced.
The forces recovered an INSAS rifle and arrested an injured JJMP member, reinforcing their commitment to dismantling extremist networks.
With the pressure mounting, security forces are expected to continue targeted operations, aiming to eliminate the remaining Maoist presence in Jharkhand.
