New York City( OT Webdesk) – The 78th annual Tony Awards, held on Sunday, saw a dazzling night of Broadway brilliance as top talent took centre stage.

Hosted by Cynthia Erivo, the ceremony featured a mix of surprises, historic wins, and standout performances.

Succession star Sarah Snook claimed the Best Actress in a Play award for her powerful portrayal in The Picture of Dorian Grey. Meanwhile, Cole Escola won Best Actor in a Play for Oh, Mary!.

Broadway also celebrated Kara Young, who made history by becoming the first Black performer to win back-to-back Best Featured Actress in a Play awards for her role in Purpose.

In the musical category, Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical took home Best Musical, while Gypsy secured the honor for Best Revival of a Musical.

One of the standout successes of the night was Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which swept multiple design awards, including Best Scenic Design (Play), Best Lighting Design (Play), and Best Sound Design (Play).
