Titlagarh Hospital Negligence: Parents Hold Dead Child Overnight in Corridor
Titlagarh – A heartbreaking incident unfolded at the Titlagarh Maternal and Child Hospital when grieving parents were forced to hold their deceased two‑year‑old son overnight in the hospital corridor due to the absence of basic facilities.
The child, Avinash, was brought from Deheli village to Sindhekela Community Health Centre and later referred to Titlagarh hospital.
Family members alleged that he died soon after receiving an injection.
With no mortuary available and hospital authorities refusing permission to take the body home, the parents, Bhubaneshwar and Jahnavi, endured the cold night clutching their child’s body.
Witnesses described Jahnavi’s inconsolable cries as a heart‑wrenching scene that shocked everyone present.
Relatives informed the police, but no solution was provided. Officials remained unresponsive despite repeated pleas for help.
Paediatrician Dr Biju Agrawal declined to share details with the media, stating only that the body had been sent for post‑mortem.
The incident has sparked outrage in Titlagarh, raising serious questions about accountability and the lack of humane infrastructure in healthcare facilities. Citizens and activists have demanded urgent reforms to ensure that bereaved families are treated with dignity and compassion.
