Three of Family Die After Suspected Food Poisoning in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A suspected case of food poisoning has claimed the lives of three family members in Itap village under Kantabania police station limits.

The victims—identified as the wife of Antaryami Sahu and their two sons, Pintu and Lintu—fell ill shortly after consuming chicken curry and spinach on Sunday evening.

Relatives rushed them to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital, but doctors declared all three dead upon arrival. Hospital authorities confirmed that the bodies remain at the mortuary for examination.

While food poisoning appears to be the likely cause, investigators have not ruled out other factors. Police and health officials have collected food samples for testing and are examining storage and preparation practices to identify possible lapses.

The incident has shocked residents of Itap village, raising concerns about food safety and hygiene.

Authorities have assured a thorough probe and emphasised the importance of safe cooking and storage practices to prevent similar tragedies.
