Three Illegal Sand-Laden Trucks Seized in Soro Raid
Soro, October 27, 2025: In a coordinated crackdown on illegal sand transportation, officials from the Baleswar Mining Department and Soro Tehsil conducted a surprise raid early Monday morning, seizing three trucks loaded with illegally mined sand.
The operation, led by Tahasildar Daitari Mallik and Junior Mining Officer Jagannath Das, targeted vehicles transporting sand from Bhadrak toward Baleswar.
The team intercepted the trucks near Soro and verified their documents.
Upon inspection, three vehicles—bearing registration numbers OD 29 E 8862, OR 01 P 4807, and OD 22 W 8845—were found to be operating without valid permits.
Authorities revealed that over 25 other trucks managed to flee by altering their routes after learning of the raid. The seized vehicles have been handed over to the Soro Police for further legal action.
This operation underscores the administration’s intensified efforts to curb illegal sand mining and protect natural resources in the region.
