Three Caught for Illegal Iron Ore Transport in Barbil

Keonjhar (Rasanand Behera) Mar 22 : Barbil Police have arrested three people involved in illegally transporting iron ore and sent them to court. On March 19, 2025, around 4:05 AM, the Barbil Police Patrol Team received information about a 16-wheeler truck (OD 09 G 7564) carrying illegal iron ore from Raika village to Soyabali.

The team quickly went to the spot, but the accused blocked the road by placing stones at different points. When the team reached near Jateshwar Temple Square, they found the truck parked on the roadside. However, the accused had already run away.

The police searched the nearby forest but could not catch them at that time. They seized the truck carrying iron ore and registered a case (Case No. 62, dated 19.03.2025) under the BNS/21 MMDR Act.

After investigations and raids, the police arrested three people involved in the case: Santosh Munda (30), son of Samara Munda, from Raika village; Narendra Mahakud (22), son of late Dilip Mahakud, from Raika village; and Bishu Barik (28), son of Duan Barik, from Soyabali village. They were sent to court today.

The police are now working to catch others involved in this illegal activity, including the mastermind behind it.
