Thief Escapes from Chandaka Police Station: Security Lapses Under Fire
Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: In a shocking lapse of police security, a theft suspect escaped from Chandaka Police Station late Monday night, raising serious questions about custodial oversight.
The accused, identified as Raja from West Bengal, was arrested two days ago in connection with an iPhone theft. While under interrogation, Raja complained of nausea and requested to use the bathroom.
Accompanied by two constables, he managed to push one aside and flee the premises.
Despite multiple personnel being present at the station, Raja’s escape has exposed glaring weaknesses in the station’s security protocols.
This incident follows a similar escape from Choudwar Jail, intensifying scrutiny on the Commissionerate Police’s handling of detainees.
Authorities have launched a manhunt and internal inquiry into the breach. The episode has sparked public concern over the safety and accountability of law enforcement in the region.
