The Bengal Files: Right to Life—Vivek Agnihotri’s Trilogy Finale Gets a New Identity

The Bengal Files movie

Bhubaneswar, June 10, (OT Webdesk): Acclaimed filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has officially renamed his upcoming film from The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter to The Bengal Files: Right to Life following overwhelming public demand.

Scheduled for release on August 15, 2025, the film marks the third instalment in Agnihotri’s investigative Files trilogy, after The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022).

It aims to shed light on the communal violence in undivided Bengal during the 1940s, covering key historical events such as Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots, which Agnihotri describes as a “Hindu genocide.”

Backed by I Am Buddha Productions and Abhishek Agarwal Arts, the film boasts a stellar cast featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar.

The teaser showcases Mithun Chakraborty walking through a dimly lit corridor, reciting the Preamble to the Constitution with a burnt tongue, creating an eerie and haunting effect.

Initially planned for filming in Kolkata, production was later shifted to Mumbai due to security concerns.

The change in the film’s title signifies its broader thematic focus on fundamental rights and historical remembrance.

As anticipation builds, Agnihotri continues to engage audiences with his signature approach to unearthing hidden narratives and presenting them through compelling storytelling.
