Ten Maoists Surrender in Kandhamal Odisha
Phulbani, Kandhamal (March 11, 2026): In a major success for Odisha’s anti‑Maoist operations, ten Maoists surrendered before security forces at the Reserve Police Ground in Phulbani, Kandhamal district.
The group included four men and six women, among them senior cadres of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).
The surrendered cadres were identified as Sonu Patam alias Nitu, Santai Salam, Laxmi Madavi alias Anupa, Sunil Telam, Manjula Punem, Rambati Ayam, Ganesh Kunjam, Sushila Dudi, Sharir Kuhudam, and Chodi Yodi.
The ceremony was overseen by ADGP (Operations) Sanjeeb Panda, who confirmed that the surrender followed sustained anti‑Naxal operations and awareness campaigns in the region.
Security forces also seized Maoist weapons during the event.
Officials noted that the development reflects growing disillusionment among Maoist ranks and highlights the success of rehabilitation initiatives aimed at reintegrating former cadres into mainstream society.
