Temple Administration Resolves Calendar Disputes, Approves Five Panjis for 2026–27

Puri: The Shrimandir administration has finalised the temple calendar for 2026–27, bringing clarity to festival dates and ending disputes over key observances.

In a decisive meeting at the Shrimandir office, five panjis (almanacks) were approved for official use, ensuring consistency in rituals and celebrations.

One of the most significant outcomes was the resolution of the Ganesh Chaturthi date dispute. The festival will now be observed on September 14, 2026, across Odisha and India.

Other major dates were also confirmed, including Mahavishuva Sankranti on April 14, 2026, and Deba Deepavali rituals from December 8–10, 2026.

Chief Administrator Dr Aravind Padhee emphasised the importance of error‑free calendars, noting past confusion over Saraswati Puja, Kali Puja, and Janmashtami.

Representatives from Mukti Mandap Pandit Sabha, senior sevayats, priests, astrologers, and administrators participated in the meeting, ensuring a broad consensus.

The administration assured devotees that the approved calendars are precise, tradition‑based, and free of contradictions, paving the way for smooth observance of temple rituals and festivals in the coming year.
