Bargarh, Nov 18: The world’s largest open-air theatrical festival, the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra, is set to return with grandeur in 2025, and this year’s spotlight shines on Sushil Kumar Meher, who has been chosen to portray the iconic role of Kansa.

The Dhanu Yatra transforms the town of Bargarh into Mathura and Gopapur, recreating episodes from Krishna Leela with unmatched authenticity. Streets, markets, and public spaces become sprawling stages, drawing thousands of devotees, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts.

Festival organisers have also finalised artists for other prominent roles, including Mahamantri, Senapati, Debaki, Narada, and Akrura, ensuring a complete ensemble for the elaborate enactments.

Meher’s appointment as Kansa reflects the committee’s commitment to nurturing fresh talent while maintaining the festival’s dramatic excellence. His performance is expected to anchor the narrative and elevate the theatrical brilliance that Dhanu Yatra is celebrated for.

With anticipation building, the 2025 edition promises to uphold Odisha’s cultural pride and captivate audiences with its immersive storytelling and vibrant community participation.
