Supermoon November 2025: India’s Brightest Lunar Display Tonight

Tonight, skywatchers across India will be treated to the most dazzling supermoon of the year. As the moon reaches its closest point to Earth—known as perigee—it will appear approximately 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon.

This celestial spectacle will be visible across major Indian cities without the need for telescopes or special equipment. In Delhi, Lucknow, and Chandigarh, the supermoon will rise around 6:00 PM IST, while cities like Mumbai and Ahmedabad will witness it by 6:15 PM. Eastern cities such as Kolkata and Patna will see it earlier, around 5:15 PM.

The moon will peak at 6:49 PM IST and remain visible throughout the night, offering a rare opportunity for stargazers and photographers alike.

Another supermoon is expected on December 4, 2025, though it will be smaller and less luminous. After that, the next supermoon won’t grace the skies until November 24, 2026.

NASA explains that supermoons occur when a full moon coincides with the moon’s closest approach to Earth, making it appear significantly larger and brighter.

Whether you’re in the hills of Shimla or the beaches of Chennai, tonight’s supermoon promises a breathtaking view—weather permitting.
