Sudarsan Pattnaik’s Lemon Ganesh Sculpture Blends Art with Atmanirbhar Bharat Message

(OT Webdesk)Puri Beach came alive this Ganesh Chaturthi with a striking sand sculpture crafted by Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik.

The internationally acclaimed artist used 1,500 lemons to create a vibrant depiction of Lord Ganesh, merging festive tradition with a powerful message of self-reliance.

The sculpture, unveiled on Odisha’s iconic coastline, was more than a visual marvel—it echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives: Atmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, and Vocal for Local.

Pattnaik remarked, “Lord Ganesh is blessing us towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” reinforcing the theme of indigenous excellence.

In a subtle nod to India’s defence capabilities, the installation referenced BrahMos, symbolising national pride and innovation.

The artwork drew large crowds and widespread admiration, continuing Pattnaik’s legacy of turning sand into a canvas for cultural and patriotic expression.
