Subhadra Yojana Empowers Over One Crore Women as CM Majhi Disburses Third Instalment on Rakhi Purnima

(OT Webdesk)In a powerful gesture of empowerment and inclusion, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi marked Rakhi Purnima by disbursing the third instalment of the Subhadra Yojana to over one crore women beneficiaries across the state.

Each eligible woman received Rs 5,000 directly into her bank account, reinforcing the government’s commitment to financial independence and gender equity.

The state-level event was held in Jeypore, Koraput district, where CM Majhi personally initiated the fund transfer.

Addressing the gathering, he described the scheme as a “symbol of transformation,” enabling women—especially in rural and underserved areas—to take charge of their economic futures.

Launched earlier this year, the Subhadra Yojana provides phased financial assistance to women, with this third instalment marking a major milestone in outreach and impact.

Deputy Chief Ministers Pravati Parida and K V Singh Deo, along with other dignitaries, were present at the event.

The occasion also saw Raksha Bandhan celebrations, with women leaders tying rakhis on CM Majhi’s wrist, adding emotional resonance to the initiative.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister celebrated Rakhi Purnima with students at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Arvind Nagar, Jeypore.

The convergence of cultural tradition and policy-driven empowerment made the event a memorable chapter in Odisha’s governance narrative.
