Bhubaneswar, Mar 6: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday stated that the Subhadra Yojana, implemented by the Odisha government, has boosted the morale of mothers and sisters and has emerged as a great symbol of women empowerment.
Expressing his happiness, Pradhan noted that the number of beneficiaries under the Subhadra Yojana, aimed at empowering and making mothers and sisters self-reliant, has surpassed 1 crore.
Taking to his X handle, he highlighted that the number of beneficiaries of the scheme, implemented in Odisha under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has crossed 1 crore.
He extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Deputy Chief Minister Parvathi Parida for the successful implementation of this initiative in fostering the empowerment and self-reliance of women.
Describing the Subhadra Yojana as a key project under the Prime Minister’s Jugantkariya Yojana, Pradhan, through video conferencing, announced that financial assistance amounting to Rs.115 crore has been provided to over 2.30 lakh mothers and sisters in the fifth phase of the first installment of the scheme.
He further stated that the state government has disbursed over Rs.5,000 crore to more than 1 crore beneficiaries under this initiative.
As part of the scheme, eligible mothers will receive Rs.50,000 in two installments of Rs.10,000 per year over the next five years. (UNI)
