Subhadra Shakti Mela 2025: Odisha’s Grand Showcase of Women’s Power and Enterprise
Bhubaneswar, Oct 30 — The Mission Shakti Department is set to launch the Subhadra Shakti Mela, a 12-day celebration of women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, from November 1 to 12 at the IDCO Exhibition Ground, Unit-3, Bhubaneswar.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced the event, highlighting its role in showcasing the creativity, strength, and business acumen of women across Odisha. “From villages to cities, women are demonstrating their potential, creativity, and entrepreneurship,” she said.
Over 300 women’s self-help groups (SHGs) from every district of Odisha will participate, offering a diverse range of products—from handlooms and handicrafts to grains, home decor, and non-timber forest items. SHGs from 11 other states, including Punjab, Gujarat, and West Bengal, will also join, adding a national flavour to the exhibition.
Visitors can enjoy 50 food stalls featuring millet-based healthy dishes and traditional Odia cuisine. Cultural programs every evening will include Odissi, Chhau, Gotipua, Sambalpuri, Ranapa, Mallakhamb, and Pala performances. A fashion show featuring SHG-crafted handloom costumes will debut this year, blending tradition with modern flair.
The mela aligns with the visions of “Vikasit Odisha 2036” and “Vikasit Bharat 2047,” aiming to help SHG women become “Lakhpati Didis” by connecting them to broader markets and boosting self-reliance.
Open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM, the Subhadra Shakti Mela invites families to experience a vibrant fusion of culture, commerce, and empowerment.
