Subhadra Scheme Review Meeting: Odisha Govt to Address Exclusion Errors

Cuttack, Sept 9 — The Odisha government is set to hold a pivotal review meeting tomorrow to evaluate the rollout of the Subhadra scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women through financial support.

Women and Child Welfare Minister Pravati Parida confirmed that the meeting will focus on identifying beneficiaries who were mistakenly excluded during the initial phase.

To ensure a comprehensive assessment, the government has requested detailed reports from three key departments:

  • Commerce and Transport: Four-wheeler ownership data
  • Food Supplies: Paddy sale records
  • Health: Verification of deceased beneficiaries

The findings will guide decisions on expanding eligibility and correcting exclusion errors. The Subhadra scheme has faced public criticism for its lack of transparency and missed outreach, prompting this urgent review.

Minister Parida emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring no eligible woman is left behind. The outcome of the meeting could reshape the scheme’s future and restore public trust in its execution.
