Subarnapur Police Seize Over 9,000 Bottles of Cough Syrup, One Arrested
In a major crackdown on the illegal drug trade, Rampur police in Subarnapur district seized more than 9,000 bottles of contraband cough syrup during a raid in Sahajbahal village.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a suspicious vehicle and conducted a search in the presence of a magistrate.
One accused, Gulshan Sahoo of Bargarh district, was arrested, while three others managed to escape. Two vehicles used for transporting the cough syrup were also confiscated.
Authorities have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding suspects and dismantle the supply chain.
Police officials emphasised that strict action will continue against those involved in the illegal drug trade, citing its serious threat to public health and safety.
