The 71st National Film Awards turned into a star-studded celebration of cinematic brilliance, with Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Rani Mukerji taking home top honours.

In a rare tie, the Best Actor award was jointly awarded to Shah Rukh Khan for his blockbuster performance in Jawan and Vikrant Massey for his critically acclaimed role in 12th Fail.
Massey’s portrayal in the biographical drama was hailed as transformative, while Khan’s win marked a milestone—his first National Award in a 33-year career.
Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, a gripping drama based on a real-life legal battle that resonated with audiences nationwide.
12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, was named Best Feature Film, while Kathal – A Jackfruit Mystery earned the Best Hindi Film title.
The evening’s highest honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, was conferred upon Malayalam icon Mohanlal for his lifetime contribution to Indian cinema, spanning over 400 films and four decades.
A standout moment came when Shah Rukh Khan sang the National Anthem, stirring the audience with pride and emotion.
