Puri, | June 11, (OT Webdesk) — The sacred Deba Snana Purnima rituals unfolded with grandeur and devotion at the Shree Jagannath Temple, marking an important prelude to the Rath Yatra.
Devotees gathered in large numbers as the Trinity deities—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra—were ceremoniously placed atop the Snana Mandap for the auspicious bathing ritual.
The day commenced with the Mangalarpan at 5:32 am, followed by a magnificent Pahandi procession, wherein the deities were escorted from the Ratna Bedi (inner sanctum) to the Snana Bedi (bathing platform) amid divine chants and the rhythmic beats of gongs and conches.
Sudarshan Prabhu ascended first at 5:45 am, Lord Balabhadra at 5:53 am, Devi Subhadra at 6:06 am, and Lord Jagannath at 6:22 am.
Several dignitaries, including Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Puri MP Dr. Sambit Patra, and Pipili MLA Ashrit Pattanayak, graced the occasion, witnessing the divine ceremony at the temple.
The Snana Yatra, an important festival in Odisha’s spiritual calendar, symbolises the public bathing and ceremonial appearance of the deities.
It is believed that after this ritual, the deities undergo a special healing phase before their grand procession during the Rath Yatra, scheduled for June 27, 2025.
The temple premises echoed with devotion as lakhs of pilgrims participated in the sacred event, reaffirming the deep-rooted cultural and religious heritage of Odisha.
