Puri, June 26, (OT Webdesk) — With the sacred Rath Yatra just hours away, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has officially unveiled the detailed ritual schedule for this year’s chariot festival, set to commence on June 27.
The annual event draws lakhs of devotees to witness the majestic procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra as they journey from the Shree Mandir to Gundicha Temple.
The schedule, meticulously planned and steeped in tradition, kicks off at 6:00 AM with Mangala Alati, followed by successive rituals including Mailam, Tadapa Lagi, Rosha Homa, and Surya Puja.
The much-awaited Rath Pratistha (consecration of the chariots) is scheduled for 9:00 AM.
One of the most captivating segments, the Pahandi procession—where deities are ceremoniously escorted to the chariots—will begin at 9:30 AM and conclude by 12:30 PM.
The royal ritual of Chhera Pahanra, where Gajapati Maharaja sweeps the chariots, is slated for 2:30 PM.
By 4:00 PM, with the installation of horses and charioteers complete, the world-famous chariot pulling will begin, uniting faith and festivity on the Grand Road.
This year’s Rath Yatra promises a seamless blend of spiritual devotion and cultural grandeur, underscoring Puri’s revered heritage and Odisha’s rich traditions.
