Six Arrested in Deogarh Mob Lynching Over Beef Allegation

Six individuals have been arrested in connection with a mob lynching incident that occurred on September 3 in Kendeijuri village under Tileibani block of Deogarh district.

The violence was reportedly triggered by allegations of beef consumption and slaughter.

According to police reports, a group of villagers attacked Kishore Meher of Terendakata village and Gautam Nayak of Kendeijuri while they were allegedly involved in beef preparation.

The assault led to Meher’s death at the scene, while Nayak sustained serious injuries.

Following the incident, Reamal Police launched a scientific investigation and registered a case. On September 5, six accused were taken into custody and produced in court.

They were identified as Prabhat Sahu, Ghanshyam Pradhan, Gajanan Kalet, Kumaramani Kalo, Suresh Kisan—all from Kendeijuri—and Dipak Behera from Mahendrapur village.

The court denied bail to all six, remanding them to judicial custody. Police officials reiterated their commitment to justice and maintaining communal harmony in the region.
