Shreemayee Mishra Questions BJD Election Process: No Unique IDs, No Democracy
Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: Suspended BJD leader Shreemayee Mishra has sparked fresh controversy by questioning the legitimacy of the party’s internal election process. In a pointed Facebook post, Mishra alleged that the voting mechanism lacked transparency and failed to meet democratic standards.
She argued that just as national elections require voter ID and EPIC numbers, party members should possess unique membership identifiers to cast votes for leadership positions. “If such identifiers are absent, it means the election process was not officially regulated,” she wrote.
Mishra’s remarks come shortly after her suspension from the party, confirmed by BJD vice-president Pratap Jena. Her social media posts have increasingly challenged party norms and leadership, drawing public attention.
Beyond politics, Mishra also reflected on broader societal issues, including women’s dignity and cultural values. Referencing Goddess Durga, she emphasized that respect for women is foundational to societal harmony and progress.
Her post concluded with a call for introspection within political organizations and society at large, urging a return to democratic principles and gender respect.
