Shiv Marble Champions Trophy 2025 Off to a Thrilling Start—GPS Defeats Oriental in Opening Clash

Barbil: The much-awaited Shiv Marble Champions Trophy 2025, organised by the Shiv Shakti Cricket Association, kicked off today at Barbil Vikas Mahal with a high-voltage opening match between Oriental Cricket Club and GPS Enterprises.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Municipality Executive Officer Ramesh Chandra Naik as the chief guest.

Other dignitaries included Municipality Vice-Chairperson Saraswati Naik, MP Representative Neelamani Mahanta, MLA Representative Mohan Gupta, Shiv Marble founder Balram Gupta, along with all Municipality Councillors.

The event began with a collective rendition of the national anthem, witnessed by hundreds of enthusiastic cricket fans.

Match Highlights:
– Batting first, Oriental Cricket Club scored 113 runs for 9 wickets in 15 overs.
– Asit Kumar Sahu top-scored with 20 runs off 22 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 1 four.
– For GPS, Sachin Mukhi delivered a stellar bowling performance, claiming 4 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs.

Chasing 114, GPS showcased strong batting:
– Kshama Sagar Bal smashed 35 runs off 25 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes.
– Oriental’s Azad Khan picked up 2 wickets in 2 overs, conceding 20 runs.
– Deepak Kumar was the standout performer, taking 4 wickets for 20 runs in 3 overs and hitting a brilliant six, earning him the Man of the Match award.

GPS successfully chased the target, scoring 117 runs in 10.2 overs for the loss of 6 wickets, securing a convincing victory and a winning start to the tournament.
