Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Booked in Rs 60 Crore Investment Fraud Case
(OT Webdesk)Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has filed a case against Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty, her husband Raj Kundra, and another individual for allegedly defrauding a businessman of Rs 60.48 crore.
The complaint, lodged by Deepak Kothari of Lotus Capital Financial Services, accuses the couple of misappropriating funds meant for their company, Best Deal TV Private Limited.
Kothari claims he invested the amount between 2015 and 2023, expecting monthly returns and eventual repayment. At the time, Shetty and Kundra reportedly held an 87.6% stake in the company.
Shetty resigned in 2016, but both now face charges under IPC Sections 403 (dishonest misappropriation), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 34 (common intention).
The FIR also notes that insolvency proceedings were initiated against the company for allegedly defrauding another investor. The investigation is ongoing.
