Sex Trafficking Racket Busted in Bhubaneswar: 10 Women Rescued, FIR Filed
Bhubaneswar, October 18: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar have dismantled a sex trafficking network operating out of the Laxmisagar area.
The operation was launched following the suspicious hospitalisation of a 17-year-old girl from Jharkhand, who arrived at Capital Hospital in a semi-conscious and injured state late Friday night.
Acting swiftly, police raided a residential building and rescued ten young women, including the minor, who were allegedly coerced into prostitution. The premises reportedly housed multiple rooms used to facilitate the illegal trade.
Two women have been detained for interrogation, while a male suspect remains on the run. The house owner has denied any knowledge of the activities.
Preliminary investigations suggest that victims were trafficked from other Indian states and forced into the sex trade.
A formal FIR has been registered, and authorities are working to identify the full network behind the operation.
The case has sparked renewed urgency around inter-state trafficking and the need for stronger surveillance and victim support systems.
