Senior Revenue Assistant Caught Taking Bribe in Jajpur Land Demarcation Case

Jajpur,(OT Webdesk)— In a decisive move against corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended Hemanta Kumar Terai, a Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) at Vyasanagar Tahasil, while he was accepting a Rs 4,500 bribe for land demarcation services.

This payment was the final instalment of a Rs 5,000 bribe demanded by Terai, who had previously taken Rs 500 from the complainant.

Feeling coerced, the complainant approached the Vigilance department, which swiftly set up a trap. Terai was caught red-handed during the transaction, and the entire bribe amount was recovered from his possession.

Following the arrest, simultaneous raids were conducted at three locations linked to Terai to investigate possible disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), at Cuttack Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 20/31.07.2025). The investigation is ongoing.

This incident underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued efforts to uphold transparency and accountability in public service.
