Senior IAS Officer Chithra Arumugam Elevated to Apex Grade as Additional Chief Secretary
Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: The Government of Odisha has promoted senior IAS officer Smt. Chithra Arumugam (RR-1995) to the prestigious Apex Grade (Level-17) under the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016.
With this elevation, she assumes the rank of Additional Chief Secretary, one of the highest positions in the Indian Administrative Service.
The notification, issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department on November 25, highlights her distinguished career and long-standing contributions to governance. Despite the promotion, Arumugam will continue in her current posting until further orders.
As an officer of the 1995 batch, Arumugam has held several key positions across departments, consistently driving policy implementation and administrative reforms.
Her elevation underscores the Odisha government’s recognition of experienced officers who have demonstrated commitment, leadership, and excellence.
This move strengthens the senior leadership team in Odisha, ensuring continuity and stability in administration while reinforcing the state’s focus on rewarding merit and building a robust governance framework.
