Security Forces Bust Maoist Hideout in Bolangir, Explosives Seized

Bolangir, May 16, (OT Webdesk): In a significant operation against Maoist insurgency, security forces in Bolangir district raided a suspected Maoist camp in the Chhatradandi forest under Tureikela police station limits.

Acting on intelligence reports, personnel from Bolangir police, the District Voluntary Force (DVF), and the Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a coordinated raid, uncovering a large cache of explosives.

Though the Maoists managed to escape before the operation commenced, officials believe the recovered explosives indicate plans for a major attack. Authorities suggest that intensified anti-Maoist operations in neighbouring Chhattisgarh—particularly Operation Black Forest—have driven insurgents toward Odisha, raising security concerns.

Security experts highlight the strategic importance of the Bolangir-Bargarh-Mahasamund (BBM) jungle corridor, often used by Maoists for mobility. The recovery of arms and explosives signals heightened activity in the region.

Northern Range IG Himanshu Lal and Bolangir SP Avilash G have confirmed that a formal briefing will be held at 11:30 AM today to disclose further details regarding the operation.
