Balasore, Apr 5: Security has been tightened in Balasore and the neighboring Bhadrak district in Odisha in view of the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations, particularly for rallies and processions.
Seventeen platoons of police forces, along with paramilitary personnel, including one company each of CRPF, BSF, and Rapid Action Force (RAF), have been deployed in Balasore.
In Bhadrak district, 26 platoons of police and three companies of paramilitary forces—BSF, CRPF, and RAF—have been stationed.
These forces will work in coordination with personnel deployed at static posts.
To ensure effective crowd management and deter any untoward incidents, flag marches have been conducted along several sensitive routes, said Dr. Satyajit Nayak, DIG, Eastern Range, while speaking to the media on Saturday.
Surveillance has been intensified in both districts. CCTV cameras have been installed along the procession routes, and drones will be used to monitor all activities, especially any suspicious movements.
Strict vigilance is being maintained on anti-social elements and mischief-makers. Social media platforms are also under close watch. Some sites have been blocked, and action has been initiated against others, Nayak added.
He urged the public not to pay attention to rumors and advised them to contact the control rooms—operational 24 hours—for any clarifications or emergencies.
Nayak further informed that peace committee meetings have been conducted in various areas. Comprehensive arrangements, including the deployment of executive magistrates, provision of medical aid, and availability of drinking water, have been made to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the religious events.
