Satya Nagar Crematorium Revamped in Bhubaneswar with Rs 3.32 Crore Modern Facilities
Bhubaneswar’s Satya Nagar crematorium has undergone a major transformation with a Rs 3.32 crore redevelopment project, aimed at providing a dignified and well-equipped space for last rites.
The upgraded facility was inaugurated by Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Sulochana Das.
For years, the crematorium had remained in a dilapidated state, causing hardship to grieving families. The new makeover introduces a gas-based cremation system, ensuring eco-friendly and efficient cremations.
Additional infrastructure includes a pond, a temple for religious observances, modern toilets, and a dedicated rituals and prayer hall.
The cremation fee has been fixed at Rs 2,000, but families holding ration cards will be eligible for free services under the Harischandra Yojana welfare scheme.
Officials noted that the upgraded facility will ease pressure on other cremation grounds across Bhubaneswar while aligning with modern urban service standards.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Mahapatra emphasised the necessity of the redevelopment, stating that essential infrastructure such as toilets and a pond had long been overdue.
The project reflects the city’s commitment to improving civic amenities and ensuring dignity in final rites.
