Rukuna Rath Yatra Preparations Continue Despite Servitor’s Injury

Bhubaneswar: Preparations for the annual Rukuna Rath Yatra at Lingaraj Temple were marred by an unfortunate accident when a servitor fell from the chariot under construction.

The incident occurred during the final stages of the festival arrangements, sparking concern among fellow servitors and devotees.

The injured servitor sustained a leg fracture and facial injuries. He was immediately rushed to BMC Hospital, where doctors confirmed his condition as stable after emergency treatment.

The mishap has raised questions about safety protocols during the construction of the massive wooden chariot.

Temple authorities, along with Bhubaneswar police, have initiated an inquiry to determine the cause of the accident and ensure stricter safety measures going forward.

Despite the setback, officials assured that preparations for the Rukuna Rath Yatra will continue on schedule.

The festival, which draws thousands of devotees each year, remains one of the most significant religious events in Odisha’s capital city.
