Ruckus Halts Parliament on Day 3 of Monsoon Session; Six Bills Listed Amid Opposition Uproar

New Delhi, July 24: The third day of the monsoon session of Parliament was marred by relentless disruptions as opposition leaders demanded a debate on Bihar’s Special Independent Voter List Revision (SIR). Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments, with members shouting slogans and waving placards.

Despite the chaos, the government listed six bills for consideration, including the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also introduced the Maritime Cargo Transport Bill, 2025 in the Rajya Sabha.

Speaker Om Birla and other presiding officers issued warnings against unruly conduct, calling it “unbecoming and disruptive.” BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar accused the opposition of wasting public funds and obstructing meaningful debate.

The government has scheduled a discussion on “Operation Sindoor” starting July 28, responding to opposition demands for clarity on alleged U.S. mediation in India-Pakistan ceasefire talks.
