Rs 500 Parking Fee Introduced at Bhakta Nivas in Puri
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced a new parking fee of Rs 500 for four-wheelers at Bhakta Nivas lodgings in Puri, effective from January 7, 2026.
The fee, inclusive of GST, covers parking for up to 24 hours and applies to four Bhakta Nivas facilities under SJTA’s control.
Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee emphasised that the measure is aimed at streamlining vehicle management, reducing congestion, and ensuring better convenience for devotees.
This marks the first time SJTA has introduced a parking charge at Bhakta Nivas, which accommodates thousands of pilgrims each year.
Reactions among devotees have been mixed. While some welcomed the move as a step toward order and discipline, others expressed concern about the added expense.
Despite differing opinions, SJTA remains firm, viewing the fee as a necessary step to maintain structured parking and improve facilities for visitors.
