Rourkela Police Recover 106 Stolen Mobiles Worth ₹32 Lakh Under Project SHIELD

Rourkela Police have successfully recovered and returned 106 stolen and lost mobile phones valued at approximately Rs 32 lakh to their rightful owners.

The distribution programme was held at the Police Headquarters, where Superintendent of Police Nitesh Wadhwani personally handed over the devices.

The recovery was made possible under Project SHIELD, an initiative leveraging artificial intelligence and an Integrated Control Room to track habitual offenders and monitor suspicious activities.

The city’s surveillance network, comprising more than 220 CCTV cameras, played a crucial role in the operation.

In addition to returning the phones, police officials encouraged citizens to participate in the “Pledge Your Camera” initiative, which invites residents to link their private cameras to the city’s surveillance system.

This collaboration aims to strengthen police–public partnership and enhance safety across Rourkela.
