Rourkela Plane Crash Landing: Six Injured, Swift Rescue Praised by CM Majhi
Rourkela, Odisha – A small IndiaOne Air Cessna Grand Caravan carrying six people made an emergency landing in farmland near Jalda, Rourkela, on Sunday.
The aircraft, with four passengers and two pilots onboard, sustained heavy damage, and all occupants were injured.
Local residents rushed to the site and, alongside the fire brigade and rescue teams, pulled the injured out of the wreckage.
Their quick action was hailed as heroic by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who praised the coordinated response that saved lives.
Four of the injured were admitted to hospitals in Rourkela, while two critically injured passengers were airlifted to Mumbai for advanced treatment.
The state government is closely monitoring their condition and ensuring medical support.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched a probe into the incident. Preliminary reports suggest a technical fault forced the emergency landing.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and IndiaOne Air are cooperating with investigators.
The incident highlights both the risks of small aircraft operations and the importance of rapid ground response.
For Rourkela residents, the bravery shown in the face of crisis has become a defining moment of community solidarity.
