Rourkela Charter Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing, Minister Reviews Safety Measures

Rourkela witnessed tense moments when a charter aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing, prompting swift government action.

Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena termed the incident “unfortunate” and assured that passenger safety remains the government’s highest priority.

A detailed probe has been initiated, with teams from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) inspecting the site.

Medical updates reveal that one passenger remains on ventilator support due to pre-existing health issues, but is showing signs of improvement.

Two other passengers are recovering well. Both pilots, who underwent surgeries, are stable and currently in the ICU but out of danger. The Minister praised the pilots’ composure, crediting them with preventing loss of life.

Reiterating that air travel remains safe, the Minister emphasised that there is no cause for alarm.
