Rotary and Inner Wheel Club Riverside’s Swadeshi Walkathon
November 23, 2025, Rourkela, In order to encourage Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign and to convey the message to the people to adopt Swadeshi as much as possible, a grand walkathon or Ganapadyatra was organised at Chhend VSS Market under the joint auspices of Rotary Club of Rourkela Riverside and Inner Wheel Club.
Rotary District Governor Alam Singh Rupra joined as the chief guest and flagged off the Gana Padyatra.
More than two hundred people, including members of both Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs, Chhend Yoga Group, Morning Walkers Group, Gopabandhu Library, Senior Citizens Association, Hitech Medical College, RIMS and students of Chinmay School, participated enthusiastically in this mass walk.
T-shirts, tea, glucose drinks and snacks were provided to everyone by the club. One group walked for three km and the other for five km. Cash prizes were given to the first, second and third place winners in this walkathon competition.
In all these programs, Inner Wheel President Simranjit Sekhon and Rotary Club President Shankar Prasad Tripathi and Secretary Sarat Kumar Panigrahi were present along with Dilip Behera, Aditya Mohapatra, Anjali Hota, Ajita Mohanty, Ghanashyam Miri, Kiya Pradhan, Prashant Ranjan Patra, Pramila Mishra, Ajay Sahu, Bhagwan Padhi, Meena Shatapathy, Dr. Minati Panda, Shagai Das, Soudamini Shatapathy, Archana Devam, Ranjita Panda, Supriya Mohanty, Dr. Khusu Mishra, Aarti Sadangi, Mahima Mohapatra, Prachi Mohapatra, Sabita Mohanty, Manjubala Padhi, Vijayalakshmi Mishra, Dr. Gitanjali Pantari and Laxmanath Das provided major active support, while Kabya Hyundai, Chhend Police Station Officer, Rourkela Government Hospital, Interstate Syndicate and Singhbahini Transport were thanked by the organizer of the Wakathan, Sukhwinder Singh Shekhon.
The chief guest, Alam Singh Rupra, the honoured guests, Pushpa Khaitan and Nalini Prabha Patnaik, along with Harpal Rupra, Dr P. C. Mohapatra, and Dr Subodh Mehe, distributed the awards.
