Reckless Driving Incident in Badbil: Security Guard Injured, Accused Arrested
Badbil – A shocking case of reckless driving and assault unfolded in Badbil when a security guard was deliberately hit by a speeding car, leading to serious injuries.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 11:55 AM near Rama Petrol Pump.
The complainant, Deepak Kumar Lal (56), employed as a guard with Times Security Agency, stated that his colleague Ashok Kumar Behuria alerted him about a car being driven dangerously.
When Behuria attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly abused and threatened him.
Moments later, the driver intentionally swerved the car towards Lal, striking him and causing injuries to his hands, legs, and head. Local bystanders intervened, preventing the accused from fleeing the scene.
The vehicle, bearing registration number OD 33 AU 9658, was driven by Vicky Prasad Gupta alias Dimba (32). Lal further revealed that Gupta had previously issued threats against him.
The injured guard was rushed to CHC Badbil for treatment before lodging a formal complaint at Badbil Police Station.
Police registered Case No. 58/2026 under charges of reckless driving, assault, and criminal intimidation.
The investigation has been assigned to Sub-Inspector T. Priyadarshini. Based on eyewitness and CCTV footage, Gupta was arrested and produced before the court.

Police have assured strict action against the accused, citing his repeated involvement in violent and unlawful activities.
