Rayagada: Families Escape Unhurt as Tanker Rams Into Houses

A major accident occurred near Kanak Devarami Temple in Muniguda block of Rayagada district when a bauxite‑laden tanker lost control and crashed into three roadside houses.

The vehicle, en route from Visakhapatnam to Jharsuguda, damaged walls, asbestos roofing, and household furniture.

Three families were inside the houses at the time of the crash. They sustained minor injuries but fortunately escaped serious harm. Local residents rushed to the spot to assist, while Muniguda police quickly arrived to secure the area and begin investigations.

Authorities are probing whether over‑speeding, mechanical failure, or driver error caused the accident. The extent of property damage is being assessed, and the condition of the injured is under review.
