Ravenshaw University Evicts 10 Seniors Over Ragging Allegations
(OT Webdesk)Ravenshaw University, one of Odisha’s most respected educational institutions, has come under scrutiny following serious ragging allegations involving senior students at its East Hostel.
On Saturday night, third-year students reportedly harassed and verbally abused first-year hostel residents, sparking swift administrative action.
After formal complaints were submitted by junior students, university officials launched an internal inquiry.
The Chief Warden and senior staff visited the hostel, where the accused initially resisted cooperation but ultimately complied.
All ten students were evicted from the hostel by Sunday evening and temporarily housed in the university guest house. Their parents were also informed of the disciplinary move.
The university issued a statement reinforcing its zero-tolerance stance on ragging, asserting that indiscipline will be met with strict measures.
To prevent such incidents in future, Ravenshaw plans to conduct regular hostel inspections, awareness drives, and monitoring across all departments.
This development follows closely on the heels of another controversy where the university had previously issued—and later revoked—an order restricting female students’ presence on campus after 5:30 PM.
