Puri, Odisha (OT Webdesk): The construction of the sacred chariots for the annual Rath Yatra in Puri has reached a crucial milestone.
On the ninth day of the process, 42 tumbas (wooden structural components) have successfully undergone binding tests, marking significant progress in the preparations.
The Maharanas, the skilled artisans responsible for building the chariots, have completed the structural checks, ensuring the tumbas are properly reinforced. Next, additional binding work will be undertaken to secure these tombs before wheels and decorative elements are added.
As the construction advances towards the final assembly phase, anticipation builds among devotees who eagerly await the grand spectacle of the Rath Yatra.
The festival, which celebrates Lord Jagannath’s journey from his temple to the Gundicha temple, remains one of the most revered traditions in Odisha, drawing visitors from across the world.
