Rashmika Mandanna Unveils Gripping Trailer of ‘The Girlfriend’: A Tale of Love, Control, and Courage

Bhubaneswar, Oct 26: South Indian cinema’s beloved star Rashmika Mandanna is all set to return to the big screen with a powerful performance in her upcoming romantic drama The Girlfriend. The much-anticipated trailer, released on Saturday, has already sparked intense buzz across social media platforms.

Directed and written by Rahul Ravindran, The Girlfriend explores the emotional complexities of modern relationships. The trailer introduces viewers to Bhuma (played by Rashmika), a gentle and composed woman entangled in a turbulent relationship with Vikram (played by Dheekshith Shetty), a possessive and controlling partner.

The 2-minute-39-second trailer opens with Bhuma asking, “Can we take a break?”, only to be met with a fiery retort from Vikram: “Break means break.” The narrative unfolds into a gripping portrayal of love, manipulation, and emotional suffocation, culminating in a dramatic marriage proposal that leaves Bhuma visibly conflicted.

Rashmika shared the trailer on her official Instagram handle, captioning it: “This is not your usual love story. It will make you think.” The film promises to challenge conventional romantic tropes and delve into the psychological toll of toxic relationships.

Backed by a strong creative team, the film features music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Krishnan Vasant. The supporting cast includes Rao Ramesh and Rohini in pivotal roles.

The Girlfriend is slated for a theatrical release on November 7, 2025, in five languages—Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam—making it a pan-India release.

With its emotionally charged storyline and Rashmika’s compelling screen presence, The Girlfriend is poised to be one of the most talked-about films of the year.
