Ranchi to Bhubaneswar Made Easy: Air India Express Unveils New Flight Route
In a strategic move to enhance regional air connectivity, Air India Express has inaugurated a new flight linking Ranchi and Bhubaneswar, with a stopover in Mumbai.
The service, cleared by Birsa Munda Airport authorities, marks a significant milestone in bridging travel gaps between Odisha and Jharkhand.
The flight, which commenced operations on Monday, is part of a broader initiative to connect Ranchi with five major cities—Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Indore, and Bhubaneswar.
Airport Director R. R. Mourya emphasised the convenience this route offers, stating that passengers can now reach Bhubaneswar in a single stretch, saving both time and effort.
The launch has been welcomed by travellers and trade bodies alike, who previously faced limited flight options between the two state capitals. The improved connectivity is expected to stimulate business travel, tourism, and trade across eastern India.
Industry stakeholders are urging further expansion, advocating for direct flights to Jaipur, Hyderabad, Raipur, and Bagdogra to facilitate access to hill stations like Darjeeling and Sikkim.
With Odisha’s aviation infrastructure on the rise—including a new terminal at Bhubaneswar Airport and the upcoming Puri Jagannath Airport—the Ranchi–Bhubaneswar route is seen as a pivotal step in regional development.
